Simba Cement to launch factory in West Pokot early next year
President Ruto is expected to officiate the commissioning early next year.
A delegation from Simba Cement Limited, led by Devki Group administrator Peter Paul and Geoffrey Sangwatei liaison Cemtech, yesterday, paid a courtesy call to Governor Simon Kachapin at the governor's residence in Kapenguria.
The meeting, which included discussions about the upcoming factory launch tentatively scheduled for February next year, also touched on various issues related to the inauguration of the factory.
President William Ruto is expected to officiate the commissioning early next year.
Notably, Simba Cement acquired Cemtech in 2022 after it had been dormant for a decade, and with this acquisition, the Devki Group of Companies aims to revive the factory and boost economic prospects in West Pokot County.
The anticipated launching of the cement factory is expected to create job opportunities and elevate the economic profile of the region.
In attendance at the meeting were Achaule Robert Komolle, Deputy Governor, and Leonard Kamsait, Chief officer in charge of water natural resources, environment, and climate change.
